Never have experienced this before:
When I use the letter "r" in the Wicker SF font and
after zooming larger than about 185%, that letter is truncated.
I only see this when this letter used as the last one. If followed by
another letter, this does not happen. And it is only with this particular letter "r".
Can somebody shed some light here please?
I have put a sample in the attachment.

Re: Letter in a font truncated after zoom in
Hhmm, I can't seem to reproduce that (Windows 7, 64-bit, Inkscape 0.91, 32-bit).
What is your operating system and Inkscape version?
It sounds like a display issue of some kind, but I'm not terribly knowledgeable about those. Try shifting the text up or down by using the arrow key -- just need to move it by 1 step. Even just 1 pixel movement might fix it.
Actually, I thought this new renderer in version 0.91 was supposed to eliminate this kind of thing. But maybe you don't use 0.91 yet? Or maybe it's not a display issue at all? Maybe is some kind of text issue?

Re: Letter in a font truncated after zoom in
I did some further investigations on this and discovered that this cutting the last part of a letter
only happens with the letter "r" and only with two fonts: Wicker SF and Caspar SF.
I have two computers both running Linux distros in dual boot:
Linux Mint 17.1 64bit dual boot with PCLinuxOS Full Monty 64 bit
PCLinuxOS MATE 64bit dual boot with PCLinuxOS KDE64 bit
The all have Inkscape 0.91 installed. The all display the same "problem".
I cannot test this on a computer with WIndows o.s. because I do not have this. (Only have windows in my walls
).
Both pc's have in the box:
ASUS H81M-PLUS motherboard and on board graphics card.
I only use a LG 27" IPS Led monitor running 1920x1080 resolution and a HDMI connection to the computers.

I´m pretty sure it´s the font. I tested a few Wicker st fonts which are free available (You might try out which seems its commercial origin http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/softmaker/wichita-serial/regular/buy.html

Thanks Polygon for your response.
"Have you checked this issue with a more common font like Times for instance?"
As I wrote above only Wicker- and Caspar-SF are showing this. Tested a lot of fonts but
not one of them showed this.

Try to use the originals and not those lousy clones:

Do I understand you correctly: this wichita serial is equel to wicker sf? After visiting this site I noticed that you have to register to get those fonts.
I am very reluctant to do these kind of things unless absolutely necessary.

Re: Letter in a font truncated after zoom in
IIRC, myfonts was ok, I haven't used them in a while. You could always use a throwaway email addy to register.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

I use MyFonts.com too, and afaik, they are reputable. The problem with using a throwaway email address is that you don't get notified of updates to your fonts....not unless you actually read the messages for that address. But that's the whole reason for using the spare address in the first place.
Well anyway, MyFonts is a good site for fonts....although I've only gotten free fonts from them. No experience with proprietary fonts.

Re: Letter in a font truncated after zoom in
I see font truncation issues every so often in MacOS. Not sure it will work for your needs but my workaround is to wait until all the text editing is done and then Path>Object to Path.

I got the exactly same issue with the font: square721_bt_roman.TTF and the letter Y
My OS Windows 7 SP1 64b Inkscape 0.91.
I have checked the font with Fontforge and the Y appears correctly. Did you find a solution?
Re: Letter in a font truncated after zoom in
I have found a workaround: adding a space at the end of the line... For some reasons, it do not correct immediately. I had to insert a letter between my Y and the space character, then suppress the letter. My Y was fine since...
