OS X-Native Inkscape coming?
Re: OS X-Native Inkscape coming?
Yes - plans are to build Inkscape with the (native) Quartz backend of the GTK+ toolkit (instead of the X11 backend currently used).InkCat wrote:whether
No date known - unlikely for Inkscape 0.48 [1], hopefully for 0.49.InkCat wrote:when

thank you for that...great to know it's on the busy developers' schedule of things to release.

Re: OS X-Native Inkscape coming?
hello sorry for reviving this old thread, just want to know if everything is going the same way with a native OSX inkscape version.
The X is a real pain, especially the inability to use the command button with the shortcuts is killing my workflow.
Thanks for your time and your work with inkscape

Sadly, not that I know of. But ~suv is the real wisdom holder here, don't mind me

Re: OS X-Native Inkscape coming?
A while ago I found a Quartz built Inkscape that worked in OSX Tiger BUT it was crash prone and very version specific. In other words, as soon as I upgraded OSX that was the end of it. Also it wasn't "built for quartz" as opposed to being merely compatible with quartz. So in the end it was just using the Quartz widget set and nothing else. I guess it would take substantial amount of people hours to make a proper quartz port, which would become a new branch of inkscape if it was to be more than a mere widget set replacement.
