Saving Filters and Gradients

Is it possible to save custom filters and gradients to use again or do you always have to create them from scratch with each new design? I can't see how they can be saved.

Your filters and gradients are saved within the file. If you open a second instance of Inkscape you can copy your object with gradients and filters and press Ctrl+Shift+V to paste this style to your selected object in the other document.

Now you can also place a file with your own filters in the Home/.config/Inkscape/filters folder if you are on Linux and Inkscape will display their names in a submenu called "Personal" within the Filters menu.

kindly,
ivan
