Psycho-circles and Spinners - A Series

Postby brynn » Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:40 pm

Hi Friends,
This turned out to be a whole series of abstract images I made, all with one spirogram! Some better than others  . Because there are so many, I'm gonna use thumbnails with links to the full size. And in this case, imo, one needs to see the full size for best view. (I don't know why ImageShack is giving these a black background -- it should be white....although black doesn't look so bad, I guess. If you follow the link though, you should see the white background.)

Even though these are finished, I may do even more with them later....different color schemes, maybe I'll even try some animations. We'll see? Anyway, comments welcomed on all of these :D

This 1st one is huge, and shows all the 2D versions in one doc. Again, warning, this one is very large. [Edit] Not sure why ImageShack isn't showing it full size, maybe they have a size limit? Anyway, not huge  .

Kewl stuff. I really like the ones that appear mechanical--like they can move.

Note that your images don't have a white background, they have a transparent background. The transparent area becomes black when it's converted to a JPG (JPG's don't support transparency).

So ImageShack converts them to jpg's? Because they're really png's.

It doesn't convert them to jpgs, it just resizes your png to a smaller png, but obviously their image editor doesn't treat png transparency correctly (turns black.) DA also does this.

I like the last 3D spinner the best :)

Sorry, I incorrectly assumed the thumbnails were JPG. But in my defense, ImageShack must be converting them to JPG before converting them back to PNG for those compression artifacts to appear :)

If you click the images you'll see a larger version with a transparent background.

Yes, the thumbnails are JPEGs. Imageshack creates small JPEGs from the PNGs but doesn't correct the filename extension from .png to .jpg and also sends a wrong Content-Type header. That's obviously a mistake on ImageShack's side.
