Hi there,
I have just started using Inkscape and am it using to create graphics that I am exporting to XAML. This has been working great, until the following happened and I can't see a logical reason why it would.
I had created the arrows in MS Powerpoint (before I found Inkscape), and copied them into Inkscape, then used the Path/Trace Bitmap to convert them into vectors. This all worked great, it created a number of objects and I just kept the ones I wanted, which is the ones you see in the video.
You can see in the video, when I select the red arrow and apply a blur the object size increases to accommodate the blur effect. This is what I want to happen. However when I select the green arrow and do the same thing, it only increases in size a tiny bit and then stops.
Why is this happening and how can I make the green arrow have the same behavior as the red arrow when applying the blur?
Video of what happens:

I have added an attachment of the file as an additional example of what is happening.
To replicate the issue:
Open the file, select the red arrow, and move the blur slider up. You will see the object re-size to fit the blur.
Then select the green arrow and move the blur slider up. You will see it only re-sizes a tiny bit.
Thank you for your time,
Regards,
codeowl.

Re: Objecting not re-sizing to fit blur
Ok well after looking everywhere in the program to see where the difference was, I managed to locate it.
I found that when I inspected the XML Tree of the Document, I could see the difference between the two objects. The green arrow had a clip-path assigned to it.
I removed this and hey presto, now the image re-sizes with the blur.
However the object selection box (the dashed line that shows the bounds when you select the object) is now longer than the object, about double the length. It was previously grouped with the red arrow... so that is the next problem to solve.
Here is a video of what I did:

I have updated the attachment as well.
Hopefully this helps someone else

Re: Objecting not re-sizing to fit blur
Ok solved it!! When I originally pasted the arrows in, I remember using the rubber tool to try and get rid of some unwanted graphics, as I didn't really know what I was doing. So I found that when I selected the green arrow with the path tool I could actually see what was causing the region of the object to be larger than the object, it was some left over graphics to small to see. Deleting these fixed the problem.
Here is an video of how I fixed this:

Hopefully this can help other newbies

Re: Objecting not re-sizing to fit blur
The green arrow has some additional nodes, which are arranged just so that you can't see any of the green fill. Here's a screenshot with the green arrow selected with the Node tool. This is probably a result of the vector auto-trace.
So you can just select t hose nodes and delete them....probably. You may have to do some other tweaking of the nodes, here and there. Let us know if you need help with that part.

Brynn,
Thanks for the reply mate. Yes I found that out when I selected the object using the path tool.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply,

Oh, I see you posted that while I was writing my reply, and I didn't notice. Glad you worked it out
