How do I connect one endpoint of multiple lines together?

Postby chucknb28409 » Sat May 10, 2008 4:00 am

Hi,

I there a way to take multiple separate lines and make one endpoint of each connect together. I want to move that one point and have it move the end points of the lines together while leaving the other end points alone. As an example lets say I have three lines that converge at an apex. I want to be able to grab that apex and move it while leaving the other end points alone.

Thanks

These points belong to diferent objects so they can not be move at the same time. You must move one first and then move the others one by one using snaps.
Luck.

You can combine the lines into one object by selecting the lines and using the Combine action from the Path menu (or press Ctrl-K). You can join two line endpoints into one node by selecting the two nodes (while using the node tool :tool_node:) and press Ctrl-J. However, you cannot join more than two line endpoints into a single node. That's a restriction of the SVG spec.

You can kind of work around it by just placing all three (or more) endpoints right over top of each other, and then using a click-drag to select all of the overlapping nodes at once. Then you can move all of them at once, as if they were actually joined.

Following kelan's lead, is this what you are trying to do?
