My personal wish is the ability, either via command line or scripting, to use the "Trace Bitmap" feature without user input. To set the trace settings, I'd either like to enter them in the script/command line, or have Inkscape remember the last-used settings even after being closed and reopened (set-and-forget!).
In my internet searching, I've seen more than a few people in need of batch tracing, and among other things it would make raster-to-vector video conversion possible.
batch/script/automateTrace Bitmap
Re: batch/script/automateTrace Bitmap
I think you can simply use potrace (which Inkscape uses) or autotrace (if you want centerline tracing) from the commandline. See also this bug for autotrace.
