Hey everyone!
i found a little Plugin from this website, http://www.philipp-spoeth.de/photoshop/sinedots2.php
obviously this plugin was made for Photoshop but works for other Graphic-Software, too.
It´s used to create certain shapes with lines, this can be found on old bank-notes, diplom or certificate. I want to use it for Contact-Cards as well as for letter-paper-design.
my question: is there any posibillity to use this plugin with inkscape? do i have to convert it first?
Thanks for your help!

Plugin for Guilloches
Re: Plugin for Guilloches
It has to be made into Inkscape extension. Seems like you can use it in GIMP though.
But I think what you're trying to achieve can be done using Spirograph extension, or some paths effects (Stitch sub-paths).

Re: Plugin for Guilloches
yes thats exactly what i was looking for!
but what du you meen by inkscape extensions? i don´t find that feature in the menu! or i need some pair of new eyes...
i thougt this plugin was vektor-based, but gimp is raster. might there be any compability issues?
thanks for your help so far!!

Re: Plugin for Guilloches
I think prkos means that for this extension to be used with Inkscape, it would have to be written for Inkscape. An extension does not currently exist for this in Inkscape. On the page to which you provided a link, there is a list of compatible programs. Inkscape is not listed there, but GIMP is, along with several other raster type programs. I don't know how it can work with both raster and vector. But for example, all Inkscape filters are actually raster-based, and made to work in Inkscape. And GIMP's path tool, for example, provides a bit of vector support, even though it's basically a raster program.
Anyway, there IS a Spirograph extension. Extensions menu > Render > Spirograph. It won't do what's in the example you linked, not by itself. But with other Inkscape tools, you might come pretty close. Although I'm not sure exactly what tools those might be...... .....envelope deformation LPE, maybe??
Good luck

Re: Plugin for Guilloches
ok i think i come along with this amount of features. though i have to combine various of them. i tried multiple combinations which lead to many results.
isn´t there any possibillity to modify the plugin so it might work with inkscape? might be much easyer for future...
thanks for your help yet!

Very unlikely:nikasio14 wrote:isn´t there any possibillity to modify the plugin so it might work with inkscape?
- the sources for the Sinedots2 Photoshop plugin are not public (at least I found no information about their license & availability on the website) - the source code would be needed to rewrite the Photoshop/After Effects filter as Inkscape extension, plugin or path effect
- Inkscape does not support Photoshop plugins (i.e. can't load and run the binary plugins).
