Reverse the grid

Postby indy2005 » Wed Apr 07, 2010 5:04 am

Hi,

Is there a way to reverse the Y axis on the grid? I want the y co-ordinate to start at the top rather than the bottom, the same as Photoshop. I need to create sprites from spritesheets, and have to export to photoshop to work out the correct co-ordinates I need.

Thanks

i

This is a long standing issue that you can read about at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/170049

It seems a fix is being worked on but some glitches are preventing it being released in the upcoming 0.48 version.

I have 0,48, but where is the option to do so?

This inverted Y axis is a pain in the nose, you know. If you create graphics for other applications, or games, you are obliterated to do a lot of stupid calculations to translate positions of your objects in inkscape to the other system.

Sorry, still not possible, afaik. If you read the bug that microUgly linked above (warning, LONG read), you'll see that a lot of people desperately would like a fix. The last comment indicates that it's still slated for 0.49. But as always with open source, no guarantees.
