Large format printing
Large format printing
I am wanting to print a large inkscape vector drawing - approximately 8ftX8ft - using a 24" printer therefore printing 4 - 24"X96" panels. As inkscape does not appear to have a tiling option, does anyone know how I could go about this? I am a novice. Thanks in advance!

Hi.
You can create separate pdf-s for printing the right parts.
How you wrote to split it to pieces, may not work though.

So for four parts, you would need four side-to-side prints in 24" width -which means 24+bleed for each; too much for a 24" printer.
Five pieces would be necessary.
Attached is a page layout you can use.
(Made with the render printing marks extension.)
There are five layers involved, each with the right printing area -if you don't want to overlap the prints at the stitching.
By selecting the grouped objects on a layer, you can resize the page to selection and save as a pdf.

It is very difficult to print exactly to the edge of a sheet of paper/card so, to achieve this, it is necessary to print a slightly larger area than is needed and then trim the paper/card down to the required finished size. Images, background images and fills which are intended to extend to the edge of the page must be extended beyond the trim line to give a bleed
