Python not running on my PC

Postby codebirth » Tue Mar 24, 2009 6:15 pm

Hello!

First thanks to all who make possible this great software! It''s amazing all the things you can do with it :)

Currently I have a little problem. I'm trying to do Effect -> Edit Path -> Add Nodes and it shows the DOS window for Python as if it's trying to do something but no nodes are added :? I'm using Windows XP SP2

Then I go to the folder where Python is installed, inside Inkscape folder, and if I click on python.exe I get an error message that says that python25.dll was not found. I look for that DLL on google and download it to windows\system32 folder but when I run python.exe it says python25.dll is not a valid Windows image.

What can I do? ( Switch to Linux is not an acceptable solution ATM :P )

Thanks!

Are you sure nothing happened? What was selected when you ran it? And what was the spacing you selected? I don't think the Python is a stand alone, i. e. that python.exe can run out side of inkscape. Don't worry about the missing dll error message yet.

Hello.

I draw a :tool_spiral: with 15 laps, 1 divergence, 0 inner radius and 100px width 100 px height. I select it and try to apply the effect to add nodes, I set 10px for max segment length. Then I click on Apply and I see the DOS window for python and a Inkscape window saying that Add Nodes is in process, please wait. Then I select the :tool_spiral: with the :tool_node: tool but there are only the same two nodes I had in the beginning. The same happens if I try with other shapes

Maybe I'm doing something wrong because now I have tried other effects like Desaturate and it works ok, but the question is what I'm doing wrong when adding nodes?

codebirth try converting the objects to paths before you run the Add node effect, it's under Path > Object to Path.
