Hi - hope I am in the right forum for this one.
I have created an Epub which has approx 200 images mostly svg but some gif and jpg. I have run finished Epub file through Epubchecker and every single svg.image has the same variety of complaints which I reckon have all got to do with aspects of the underlying XML code in an SVG image not being recognised or acceptale to the Epubchecker.
The SVG images are all saved as Inkscape versions and I wonder would it make a difference if they were saved as plain SVG or even as PNG although I wouln't really want the file size of the PNFs if I could avoid that. I hope someone else has not only come across this but can also help me resolve the issue as I really want to retain the SVG images as they remain so much sharper when zooming in an eyepad and don't develop the jpeg jaggies.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can put me on the right road. Obviously I was hoping for a solution which could avoid making literally thousands of changes in the coding of the Epub file.
Cheers
SVG image file problem in Epubchecker
Re: SVG image file problem in Epubchecker
Welcome to InkscapeForum!
I'm not sure why it would reject the XML from Inkscape, if that is indeed the problem. To my knowledge, Inkscape follows XML standards. But Plain SVG is somehow different from Inkscape SVG, so it would be worth trying.

Can you post some of the "complaints" here, together with the problem file?kiska.adin wrote:Hi - hope I am in the right forum for this one.

Re: SVG image file problem in Epubchecker
I'm not knowledgeable with XML or anything, but I was having a similar problem importing some very primitive .SVG shapes into Blender a month or two back.
Somebody here (I think it was Brynn, actually) said that the problem might be with the XML. So, I just took the simple .SVG objects and pasted them into a new Inkscape window, and finally saved that as a separate file. This new one imported into Blender just fine. (I think that what probably happened was that the XML maybe just picked up a lot of clutter and odd artifacts as I was constantly tweaking the image, and the object itself somehow needed to be freed from those. Like I said, I'm not an expert!)
So my suggestion is: take one Object and then cut-and-paste it into a new Inkscape window, and save that. (Probably make sure that there are no Filters or anything exotic like that on it.) Then, try bringing THAT into your epub.
It might or might not work, but it's simple and so it's worth a shot.

Re: SVG image file problem in Epubchecker
I am working on a similar project, publishing a 50 page epub with each page in svg ( wrapped in xml). It validates in epub3, but have several platform specific problems. Curious to know how your experience was.
