Please help!
I want to see font size in mm or cm - not in px - when I'm changing the font in font window. How to change that?
Thanks.
Font size in cm or mm...

Edit: This post is wrong, see replies.
Font size is not listed in pixels, but points. This is the most common way to refer to a font size, especially in computer related applications. I'm pretty sure it's the only font sizing option that Inkscape supports.
However, if you want your text to be a specific height, you can always enter that specific height using the toolbar of the Selection tool. Select the text, adjust the units to cm or mm, and then just type in the height you want.

Not sure about other OS's but in windows no matter what my document properties are if I check the font in the XML editor the sizes are indeed in px.
If you know what pt size you want to use 8, 9, 10,... etc. you can change it in the XML editor, but the moment you push (Set) or Ctrl+ Enter it will convert font size to pixels again.

You're quite right. I guess I just assumed the font size were in points because that's the usual way in computer programs.
However, this leads to another solution to WooK's problem. You can set the font size to a particular mm or cm by using the XML editor. Here's how:
- Create your text by using the text tool like normal. Any size will do for now.
- Select the text object and open the XML editor by pressing Shift-Ctrl-X.
- The text object should be selected in the XML editor. Look at the style attribute and find the font size. As capnhud pointed out, it'll be listed in pixels; for example: "font-size: 18px".
- Change the size to your desired mm or cm by changing the number and unit; for example: "font-size: 32mm".
- Press the "Set" button next to the edit area, or press Ctrl-Enter, to set the text to the new size.
Like capnhud said, the size will be immediately recalculated to px, but it should be the right size.
