an interesting approach to clipping and hatching

By the look it seems to me that it can almost be recreated by adding a repeated radial gradient filled rectangle on top of the image.
Well that's definitely an efficient way to draw a parallel lined texture. Will have to try that sometime.

how would you get so many stops added to the gradient and distribute them all equally ?

Equal distribution can be done with reflected repeats. -Dropdown option in the fill and stroke panel.-

Distributing them logsrithmically is another story.
