"Free transform", in the "Adobe" sense of the word, involves simply selecting the object with :tool_selector:. If you want to free rotate, click the object once to toggle rotation handles.

Ah, then shouldn't they change it on the website? It currently says that while Adobe can do it, Inkscape can't.

I'm afraid only rotating and scaling are in Inkscape.
Free Transform has other features such as prespective, skewing and distorting which I don't think are easily accessible in the current stable build.

There is a really simple perspective function in Inkscape. I saw a tutorial... somewhere... I think you could make that perspective function work like skew but it would be really... awkward.

I think Inkscape has had Perspective and Envelope deformation features since version 0.45, they are definitely there in 0.46 and in 0.47 Live Path effects will make them more interactive, maybe something like what you mention in Adobe, editing on canvas. In the dev version I currently use there are numbers you use to control the perspective of an object, the object is put on an imaginary box and you control the scaling and the offset, and if the object is on left or right hand side of the box.

In 0.46 you have to draw a 4 node path and the objects perspective will be calculated according to it. http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... erspective

Can you post the link where it says Inkscape can't do it?
