Hi guys, I 'm a newbie at vector or any graphic design software. I'm trying to make a Logo for a small business that I'm starting, I can't afford to pay for designer to do my logo, so i decided to give it a go myself.
So far I downloaded inkscape 0.45 version, and learned a little bit from the tutorial.
The thing I can't figure out is Fonts, It doesn't have a big selection on fonts, and they all look the same.
I'm hoping someone can give a me some advice on how to get more fonts and how to apply them,
I'd also appreciate any tips on creating Logos.
thanks!

Could you PM me some info about the business? I may have some font suggestions as well as a better understanding of the design options.

I cant give you any design tips, but I can point you at some free font sites:
http://www.1001fonts.com/ - bit of a misleading name, I'm pretty sure theres more than 1001
http://www.dafont.com
those were the 2 I can remember off the top of my head, just make sure that you pick one that has a license that lets you use it for non personal use.

You need to install them the way you normally do, then next time you start inkscape they should be in the list. We have some issues with fonts not being picked up sometimes, ask about if you have nay problems where they work in other things but not in inkscape.
On windows you unzip to windows/fonts, no idea how you install on linux or mac.

On the Mac, you double click on the font and when the window pops up you click on Install Font.
The font must be installed in the Computer folder, though to be accessible to Inkscape. I've found that if it's installed in the user folder it won't be in the Inkscape list.
