Manara Tribute

Postby enon013 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 4:13 pm

Hi, this is my last work:
A tribute to female beauty as viewed by one of my favorite authors: Milo Manara.
The picture is derived from an illustration on his comic book: Kamasutra

I would like to ask you a suggestions:
I have used blur effect just outside the main figure and just inside the lock shape, but I am not fully satisfied with that.
Additionally, every time I introduce blur effect in a drawing, inkscape start to become very slow (I know I could avoid using layer, and hiding when not needed...), but if possible I would avoid the use of blur.
Any suggestion?

Suggestion (respectfully) the Lock Shape blur:
1. I would lower the opacity of the blur this would let the back ground come to the foreground more.
2. Or increase the Blur radius
3. Or Increase the Blur radius and Decrease the Opacity the color transition from the Blur to the Flat Color it is a bit too sharp of a blending of colors for my eyes.
4. You might want to invoke the Layers BLEND Filters. they way i would do this for your example I would duplicate the frame (lock) objects and move them to a newly create layer ABOVE. Then I would use the DYNAMIC OFFSET feature to make the duplicate a bit larger than the original, then toy with the settings I use multiply more than the others..

Additionally, every time I introduce blur effect in a drawing, inkscape start to become very slow (I know I could avoid using layer, and hiding when not needed...), but if possible I would avoid the use of blur.

In addition to Layers for Blurring (Show/Hide) I also try to avoid High Zoom levels and Set >View >Mode >No Filters
