A while ago I increased the space between letters.
I assumed that once the file had been closed down this change would revert back to the default. But it doesn't. Grrr..
So each time I create text I have to manually reduce the spacing.
How can I rectify this so that when I open a new file there is no additional spacing.
The space between letters in these words should be 0.00.

Removing adjustments made to kerning
Re: Removing adjustments made to kerning
If I've set the text tool to 'last used style', for me, it reverts to 0 when I first open Inkscape.
What are your settings for the text tool? (double-click on its icon to get the dialog)
How are you trying to change them? Are you closing Inkscape completely in between? Do you save the files? What are you doing exactly when you try to reset? Can you describe your steps?

Re: Removing adjustments made to kerning
I'm using 'This tool's own style' - I've never changed this in Preferences so I don't understand why the kerning won't revert back to 0.00.
If I use 'last used style' will that mean the last font I used will be the one that opens up in a new Inkscape window? I don't want that.
Trying to change them by literally typing in 0.00 into the kerning box.
I'm then closing Inkscape down completely. I have saved files that I've been working on but that has no effect - when I open a new Inkscape file the kerning as reverted back to 5.11.
I have had so many issues with this latest Inkscape version....sigh

Re: Removing adjustments made to kerning
When I use 'this tool's own style', it even reverts to the previous setting right when I click on the canvas for the next text.
So, perhaps you've accidentally somehow set the tool's style to use that kerning value.
To fix, it's probably enough to set the style by taking it from a text that has no kerning.
I.e. type a text, set kerning to zero, select it with select tool, open up the text tool's preferences, then use 'this tool's own style' , and click on 'take from selection'. Does this work?

Re: Removing adjustments made to kerning
This is what I've now done and it's worked. I'm just not sure how it 'got stuck' on that previous setting as I hadn't been into the Text Preference and changed anything. Oh well, never mind.
Thank You
