I'm having a serious font issue. I'm using Inkscape version 0.45.1 on Mac OS X.4.11 (in X11 of course, version 1.1.3.) Inkscape allows all of the 'Regular' font styles, and 'Italic,' but as far as i can tell, choosing 'Bold' changes nothing. What's worse, other styles, i.e. 'Condensed' or 'Light,' do not even show up as options. Specifically, i'm trying to use Helvetica Neue UltraLight, which is in the Helvetica True Type Font Suitcase.
This is not an issue that just showed up one day, but rather, it has existed since i installed Inkscape. Could someone give me a hand?
Inkscape not allowing certain font styles...
Re: Inkscape not allowing certain font styles...
I don't know why "Bold" doesn't work for you, but the lack of styles like "Condensed" and "Light" is bug 167353. Someone there suggested renaming the font as a work-around. Another possibility in some cases would be to use a different font, and then edit the SVG file to put in the correct font name (and render it with Batik if Inkscape still doesn't show the correct font).

Some fonts don't have a bold face so Inkscape can only make your text bold if that individual font supports it. Try another - some will

Re: Inkscape not allowing certain font styles...
I have a similar issue using Inkscape in Win XP SP3: In my case I can select the font I want from the font dialog and it appears OK on the screen but not OK when I creat a pdf or view the SVG from a browser...
I added text using Arial Black and it shows up like it should in the Inkscape editor but when I create a pdf file, it comes up as standard Arial. Same is true if I try to view the SVG file in my browser (IE6). However, the font seems to be correct when I save the file as an EPS.
