Import text as text

Postby LandArch Studios » Tue Dec 10, 2013 12:09 am

I did a search here, with not luck on results. I also have done some Google searches with little results. I saw something about a bug, so I don't want to add a bug report and it seems old. I have done this in the past, maybe with a previous version. I use a CAD program to develop title block for drawings, mostly for uniformity between CAD drawings and other rendered drawings. I print the title block out of CAD to a pdf file once all the labels, etc are correct for the current project. I attempt to import the pdf into Inkscape to add images, GIS line work, etc. and the only option I have is to import text as text. I don't need the text as text, and when it imports the text styles are changed even though the same fonts are available in both programs. Despite the potential bug, has anyone found a work around for this? Without having to rasterize the vector lines work of the pdf with Gimp.

I'd try exporting the image from CAD as a DXF, to see if it converts the text to paths.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
