Hi,

I loaded inkscape .91 on mac os 10.9.5 last night and it looked okay. I couldn't paste in so I decided to wait until today and figure it out.

Today all I get is an unresponsive chocolate brown work space everything else seems ok.

Ideas where I've gone wrong?

I don't know about the brown canvas, unless you change the background color. But there's a bug with pasting, on Macs -- the pasted object becomes rasterized. Instead, you should use Duplicate.
