Is there a feature that lets you (continued)
group a path shape to a gradient while using nodes (Sorry coudnt fit it into the subject) It seems like if I make a path with the free hands tool then gradient it then realize it's not perfect for me that I can't change it because the bottom layer is hard to align again ive grouped them but that seems to become undone when using nodes is there another way to do these?
Re: Is there a feature that lets you (continued)
Would you mind making a screenshot illustrating the problem? I'm not clear what the problem is. Or maybe if you could say step by step what you're doing, and at what place it goes wrong?
Do you mean that you have 2 identical objects (paths) on top of each other, perhaps one object duplicated (and filled with gradient)? But when you edit one of them with Node tool, they don't stay together?
If that's the case, you'll need to select them both with the Node tool (use Shift for multiple selection). Then to select a pair of nodes, I usually just drag a tiny selection box around a node. That selects both of them, and then they will move together.
If that's not it, then could you clarify the problem? Or maybe someone else understands?

Yes thats is it sorry I never responed thank you for telling me I didnt think about slecting them with nodes through that doesn't seem to work when i select it either its stuck toghther but the nodes wont move toghther is there a way to do that?

It can be tricky to select paths with the Node tool, when the paths are on top of each other. Try selecting them both with the Selection tool (click to select the top one, then Alt + click to select the bottom one) then switch to the Node tool. Then with the Node tool, draw selection box around one node. When you do that, both nodes will be selected, and they will move together. But if you don't have them both selected, only the selected one will move.
Of course, that only works if the objects are absolutely identical, so the the nodes of one lie directly on top of the nodes of the other.
