I've just been working with a Duplicate Window for the 1st time. Right away I noticed that selections of any kind that are made in the active window, are not reflected in the duplicate window. So I thought maybe I'd post a Feature Request at Sourceforge. But because it seems so obvious how helpful it would be to see selections in the duplicate window, I'm thinking it's probably been suggested/requested already by others.
And herein lies my question: Is it helpful to developers to know how many users would like to see a potential new feature or function of a feature? Or does it annoy them to get multiple requests? So in other words, should I search out previous requests and add mine to it, or just make my own new one?
Thanks for any guidance anyone can offer

Re: Q about requesting new features
I think that no selection in the duplicate window is probably intentional, so you don't have anything in the way in that window, just clean drawing so you can get a better idea of what the result looks like while editing.
Im not a developer so I can't say for sure what they like or don't like but I think the more feedback the better. But if you have a request that already exists in the bug tracker just reply on the existing one with a comment, because even if you make a new request it will be marked as a duplicate.
btw they move it from sourceforge to launchpad https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/

Re: Q about requesting new features
Ssso...just to be clear, feature requests belong in the bug tracker, even though it's not a bug?
Oh, I thought it was just the bug tracker that moved to Launchpad. Because there's a specific Inkscape forum at Sourceforge for Feature Requets...or well, there used to be anyway. I'm not much of the mailing list type,or programmer either, so I've never been really very familiar about the SF setup. Maybe I'll have acloser look at the Launchpad site.
Thanks for your help. I guess I'll search the archives for more info on this topic.
All best

Re: Q about requesting new features
Yes you report your feature request as a bug, then someone comes in and marks it as a Wishlist (thats how things go in Launchpad).
The links on the main inkscape.org page (for bugs and feature requests) were wrongly pointing to sourceforge, I think its been fixed now
