Hello,

I've had Inkscape installed for a while. It worked fine. Some time ago it stopped opening (I'm only now getting round to trying to fix it). I don't think anything was changed (ie OS upgrade), so I've got no idea why it stopped working.

I click Inkscape in the dock, the marker appears beneath it, but nothing else apparently happens (no windows nor X11 app). I click on the Inkscape icon in the dock again and the X11 icon appears immediately/instantaneously in the dock with the marker beneath it. X11's menu options are in the top menu bar. I click on the Inkscape icon again, no difference. I go into the Finder. Click the Inkscape icon again, and the X11 comes to the front. No Inkscape though.

Any ideas how to get it working again?

Three observations:
- the currently available Inkscape version for macOS is 0.91.
- have you looked into your gatekeeper settings?
- can you search the forum for previous answers? I'm not on Mac, and I can't remember all the suggestions that have been made, but similar issues have been discussed before. Especially look out for comments by ~suv, who is the developer who created (most of?) the macOS versions.

OK thanks. I just came across one suggestion about using /Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/MacOS/Inkscape on the command line to open Inkscape just to see what happens. This is what it gave:

I don't think I've got gatekeeper on here. I've never seen it. Just done a search, not found.

In the Security and Privacy System Preference "anywhere" is the setting for "Allow applications downloaded from".

Inkscape worked on my Mac running Sierra but has stopped. The icon appears in the task bar for a second and then shuts down. In settings there is no option for allowing incoming connections from "Anywhere". I got the following session log from Atom by starting Atom from the Inkscape application folder. I see a lot of the same problem on the web but no viable solutions. Any thoughts? Have you had any luck?

Sorry, wish I could be of more help. I'm not a Mac user myself. Can one (or both) of you send a message to the inkscape-user mailing list? Developers read there, too, and are a lot more likely to respond there than here.
