Hi everyone.
I downloaded Inkscape this evening on my Mac this evening and very much like the looks of it. The software seems very well developed, and looks like it has a lot of the tools I need. I'm primarily interested in using it as a drawing tool. I have a Wacom Tablet, and in playing around with the Calligraphy Pen, I cannot seem to get the pressure sensitivity to work. I have the icon depressed on the toolbar (just to the right of width), but there's absolutely no variation in the line. Are there any other places I need to set things up to use a tablet and get variations with the calligraphy tool?
I'm using OSX 10.4.11 and the tablet's definitely working with other software. Just downloaded the latest driver from Wacom to make sure it wasn't something there.
Any advice to this newbie will be greatly appreciated.
Pressure Sensitivity Not Working
Re: Pressure Sensitivity Not Working
This message on the mailing list explains the situation from Feb this year - http://www.nabble.com/Inkscape-on-Mac-2 ... 26664.html
It is possible the situation has changed since then.
Unfortunately the special functions of your wacom tablet (tilt,
pressure, etc.) cannot be used in Inkscape on OS X right now. This is
a limitation of the X11 version shipped by Apple which does not
include the xinput extension that handles graphic tablets.
It is possible the situation has changed since then.
Re: Pressure Sensitivity Not Working
Thanks for the info. I am disappointed to hear it. Definitely puts a damper on my enthusiasm for using Inkscape as a drawing program. Darn. Just when i thought I'd found the software that had everything I was looking for!
Maybe someday it will be possible...

The link I provided had more info you may have liked to try.
Re: Pressure Sensitivity Not Working
Yes. Installing a different X11 on OSX seems beyond me, but I'm going to look into it. If anyone knows one that would work and has xinput, i'd appreciate it if they'd let me know.
