To save repeating myself I already posted on Graphic Design StackExchange and wanted to see if anyone here could tell my why this particular image I downloaded from Bing Images wouldn't export? I solved the problem with a work around using InkScape.

Hi, I can successfully make the background transparent, but the problem was exporting it to .png format. Please do an export test to verify its working...

Hi.

On windows the "normal" viewer shows the transparent background in PNG files as black.
To "turn off" the transparency open the file in Paint and save the file again.
The transparent background is now replaced by white.

The above image is a png... that's why the transparency is working in the browser.

Cut out, cropped and exported from GIMP.

No, no, load the .jpg image as is from Bing Images, make your changes and then export to .png and let me know if it worked.
