Hi,
I could not find this request anywhere in the forum so I just want to discuss about this feature. All my colleagues find the "define button" in the object properties box useless and are annoyed with that. Usually they forget to click on it and all text contained in title and description are lost.
On the contrary, metadatas (dublin core datas) don't need such define button to save modified fields.
What about removing this button from object properties and just save texts on the fly ?
Thanks

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

ha yes sorry, it is this button "set". If I am right, this principle of using validation button is not used anywhere else in inkscape. All others functionalities are set on the fly, no need to validate our choices.
