Kaleidoscope Effect
Is it possible to create some type of Kaleidoscope Effect for Inkscape?

Oh yes, a little known trick, which I don't understand. It's in quite an old topic, but I'll search it out and give you a link 
It's something about cloned layers, if I recall....brb
