Bezier handles.

Postby docquaker » Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:03 am

Hi everybody.

Im posting for the first time, and I am new at using Inkscape, so go easy on me and, if you would please dumb things down a little : )

I have a problem when I am drawing Bezier curves, :tool_pen: and i insert a new point on the line, when I subsequently try to tweak the handles of this point, it affects the line on both sides of the point.

How can I stop it from doing that, and isolate the movement of the handle to affect only the part of the line that it covers?

Hope it makes sence.

Doc.

Draw the handles and adjust only the first segment what you want it to look like, when you do that hold the Shift key while still holding the mouse button, now you can adjust the second segment. Is this what you were looking for?

When using the :tool_node: tool to edit the path, there are several types of nodes.
when you create a new node in the middle it is a smooth node (square). If you want to adjust the handles separately, then you have to convert the node into a cusp (corner) node which is diamond shaped. change the type of node by using the buttons on the node tool bar

See http://en.flossmanuals.net/Inkscape/NodeTool or http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... urves.html for details on the types of nodes.
