[solved] Light custom distortion effect for text

Postby strix » Tue Jul 09, 2013 6:03 pm

Dear Inkscape forum,

i'm trying to apply a distortion effect to a text, like the one you can see on the picture in the band name "BOYSETSFIRE" \capsoff ^^
Unfortunately all preset-filters I tried so far have a way too heavy impact on my text -.-
So if anyone could give me some advice on how to achieve this affect I'd be truly happy! :)

Welcome aboard!

First convert the text into a path, ungroup the characters and then combine them together
-by pressing Ctrl+Shift+C, Ctrl+Shift+G, Ctrl+K when the text is selected.
Then you can use the add nodes extension, then the jitter nodes extension -from the modify path extensions.
After that you may try to simplify the path and the flatten path extension,
or to select some nodes and change them from cusp to smooth.

You can set the jitter nodes extension to 0,1 pixel offsetting,
but if that makes a too heavy effect, you can scale up the original path before applying the extension.
