Greetings from Australia

Postby RumpledElf » Sun Jan 27, 2013 3:29 pm

Yet another new person ... I use inkscape for this and that (mostly widgets and icons on websites), but particularly joining this forum in the hope of bumping into someone that does fantasy art.

If anyone can point me at a better place to find inkscape artists I'm all ears :)

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

The more the merrier :D

I know there are a couple of guys here who do fantasy world maps. And a few very excellent cartoon type artists, who sometimes...well most of the time, I guess, lol, do fantasy characters, and they other is sort of sci-fi based cartoons, which is a different kind of fantasy. I'll let them introduce themselves if they are interested, although I'm not sure if they regularly read this subforum.... Perhaps if you include that in your topic title, it might grab their attention (something like "fanatasy artists" or something). You may well find others as well. Try browsing and/or searching the Finished Inkscape Work subforum.

If you haven't already, you should check out deviantART. It's set up quite well for searching artists by name, theme, style, category, etc. There's a big Inkscape section :D

Hi Rumpledelf,
Welcome to the forum.
I don't know if you'll meet a lot of fantasy genre artists here,
but hope you'll find the forum helpful and enjoyable just the same.
Do you have any interest in concept art, character and environment design?

p.s. like brynn mentioned deviantart is a good place to find other artists who
favor just about any software you can think of.

Yeah, the fun part about deviantart is *finding* stuff in that huge mass of Stuff. There is an enormous amount of art there and as with all creative things, it isn't always tagged as well as you want it to be >.<

I was actually planning on lurking for a while and posting when I'm a bit more sure of what I need - I need three related-but-different types of art: icons for categories, header background scenes and components to make an avatar generator. And in no big rush at all, really after someone who would like a small side project and a steady trickle of money while they're studying, freelancing etc. This is for my own side project, funded by my day job.

Oh yes, I can totally sympathize with anyone trying to find something specific on Deviantart,
chances are good it's there somewhere...but the search engine may not find it until your looking
for something else. Nonetheless, its a great place to browse and wander.

About your project, I'm curious now.
When your ready to post something for us, I will read it with interest.
