[soIved] Is there a way to have Inkscape open in maximized

Postby StevenD » Sun Feb 24, 2008 1:11 pm

When I open Inkscape I get a small window and I have to manually maximize the window to fill my computer screen. Is there a way to set it so it will open to fill the screen every time with the page centered?

Yes, set it up the way you want it to be when you open it and save it as the default template. On Linux, the file is ~/.inkscape/templates/default.svg I'm not sure what it is on Windows.

You can also set the document metadata with default values.

:) Thanks. That does it. That is an interesting way of doing this sort of thing. I have set templates up before in other applications but the window size had nothing to do with the template so much.

Well I should have said that sort of does it. For some reason the full size window is opening up shifted down by at least a title bar height. I have to either manually grab the window and move it up or click the Maximize button in the top right corner.

I agree. I don't know what the logic is behind saving the window geometry into your files. Inkscape is the only software I've seen do that. But the behaviour can be disabled under Inkscape Preference > Windows tab. With luck this might allow the window manager (i.e. Windows) manage the maximised state and window size instead - I haven't tried it myself.
