Been using Inkscape via X11 on my mac for a little while now - been years since I used illustrator and wanted to get back into Vector stuff for some design work. Really loving the program (a lot more than I ever remember liking illustrator!)
Anyway - I have one of those nifty Apple mice with the scroll ball on the top. I can use it to pan a canvas I'm working on up and down no problem, but not left to right! I've done a search, and I've found the other tricks for scrolling - holding shift while scrolling up and down works for going left to right, and Adobe-style option for turning on space bar panning. Figured out how to change the sensitivity of the scroll ball too, which was helpful. But I'd love to be able to use the ball to scroll in all directions, as I'm used to doing in native Mac programs. I can get by, but is there something obvious I'm missing or haven't found in my searches? I don't know if this is a preference somewhere I've missed, or if this is an Inkscape or an X11 thing.
Sorry for the somewhat silly question - I've tried looking here, the wiki, google and the manual, without luck, but that doesn't mean I'm not missing it.
Thanks!

Re: Scrolling/Panning a canvas in multiple directions w/mouse
Appel is such a company that always comes up with new invention. At the time of launching of iphone, we have seen a great new handhold device for zooming and panning pictures. I hope the combination of Inkscape via X11 on mac will be great.

I would guess this is an X11 issue so you might try searching X11 specific resources if you don't get an answer here. I wonder if it works on Mac.
