I do not know how but my node handles no longer appear when I click on the node. Any help is appreciated. Using Inkscape 47

On the 
(node tool) tool-bar, there is now an option to show or hide these handles. It is the second icon from the right end of the toolbar, and is labelled with a tooltip that goes "Show the Bezier handles of the selected nodes".
