I have found this workaround to apply successive SVG Filter Effects to an object without combining their components into a new and too heavy one.

Cool! Except that you don't need to draw a second object - just Ctrl+G on the first object alone, it will be grouped into a one-object group, then apply the second filter to the group.

An example using two times Ctrl+G to combine three Filters
