Just installed the application (Inkscape 046) and the question is "where is X11"?
I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.2 and have no idea where X11 is, so I downloaded an upgrade for X11 hoping it'll find it automatically, but it said this system doesnt need that upgrade.
I recently switched to mac from windows, so if I'm asking something totally basic or stupid,.. that's why.
can somebody help me out here?
Many thanks,
d
[solved] Where is X11? need for installation
Re: Where is X11? need for installation
I'm not a Mac user so don't have your answer, but there has been a few Mac users who have posted X11 topics. If you haven't already, try searching the forum and you might find your answer.
Re: Where is X11? need for installation
I still have OSX tiger (10.4), so I haven't confirmed any of the following, but from what I've read elsewhere, if you have OSX 10.5, X11 should already be installed. On my older system it is found in /Applications/Utilities
When you launch Inkscape now, what happens?
You could launch X11 first, then Inkscape, but X11 should open up automatically when you launch Inkscape first.
There is also the xQuartz project which is supposed to supply a more up-to-date version of X11 for Mac
