Duplicating/copying objects within group

Postby iyavor » Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:45 pm

Hi everyone,

I always have the same challenge- when I want to take an element out of a group, duplicate it, and use it somewhere else.
The problem is that when I duplicate, the new object is still within the group, and if I try to take it out with the XML editor, it usually gets lost.

Here's my example: my business card. The logo at the top is grouped. I'd like to remove the curvy lines from the logo, enlarge them, and use them elsewhere in the card.
Is there a more effective way of doing this?

Hi.

For example duplicate the group itself (Ctrl+D), ungroup it (Ctrl+Shift+G),
remove the right part from the selection by Shift+clcking, delete selectted -unnecessary- objects,
and do whatever you want with the rest.
