Professional Graphic Design Work With Inkscape

Postby a_dejesus » Tue Mar 27, 2012 6:53 am

I was wondering if anyone here does or knows anyone that use Inkscape in the professional graphic design world for logos or any other SVG work? Meaning using Inksacpe predominantly as a stone alone without the help of other programs i.e. Illustrator? I know Inkscape is a powerful took but is it more for hobbyist who like to do self artwork?

After very few works done in Freehand MX years ago, I've switched to using solely Inkscape. I'm using it mostly for all different kinds of (mostly cartoon-ish) images, not so much for logos and stuff. But since it's working nicely for more complex images, something as simple as most logos (no offense) should be fine to do as well.. chief80 already showed some nice examples above. I don't consider myself a full pro (not yet) but I'd say that Inkscape is perfectly fine for professional work. Just check the Finished works section of this forum and you'll see what people create with it :)

Oh yes, a lot of professionals use Inkscape! I have no idea how many use Inkscape alone. Maybe you could set up a poll??

For the purpose of logos, yes, I think Inkscape is fully equipped to be used alone. For more complex graphic work, I think a lot of designers supplement with features of other programs. I'm not sure how much the use of other programs is related to personal preference of the professional, and how much is out of necessity.

I know druban does some professional work, and I expect he'll reply :D
