Let's use a 400px square as an example:
- When I select Export Bitmap, the listed resulution is 90dpi. Setting it to the PC standard of 96dpi increases the size of the square to 427px, which I don't want, so I leave it alone, and export at 90
- When I go to the Windows properties for the image, it shows the resolution as 89dpi!
- When I open the image in Paint.NET (a bitmap editor), I get a 400px image, but shows a resolution of 89.99dpi.
- But, when I import the image into Xara, I get a 427px square, which is exactly what Inkscape would have created if I had chosen 96dpi as the export resolution.
- Saves at 400px
- Imports into Xara at 400px
- Imports into Inkscape at 400px -- not 427!
So, my questions are:
- Is there a way to get Inkscape to export a bitmap at 100% size with a standard 96dpi resolution?
- When exporting at 90dpi, why do Windows programs show the resolution at 89 or 89.99?
- Why is the resolution ignored when a PNG is imported?
Thanks,
-Ken
