Raffle ticket with perforation

Postby madcreek » Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:57 pm

Good morning! I'm new to inkscape and signcut. I've been asked to design some raffle tickets. Can you tell me how I would set it up to cut perforations?

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

First, I don't know anything about SignCut, but I assume that's the software that will do the cutting? So for Inkscape, if I understand correctly, you would just need to draw a path around the ticket design, along which the SC will cut out the ticket.

When you mention perforations, is that because you want it to be cut out so that it looks like it was perforated? Somewhere I've seen a tutorial for drawing a perforated line..... Look in my signature for the link to video tutorials. I think that's where I saw it, but I'm not sure. You could search the internet for something like "Inkscape, tutorial, perforation" and probaby find it.

But if you can't find it, be sure to reply back, and I'll be glad to write up a quick tutorial. Or whoever happens to be around on the forum -- it shouldn't be very hard to do.

However, it seems possible to me, that some cutter software might have some sort of custom settings, so that even though the line is a straight, smooth line, it will cut a perforated pattern along the line. In that case, you wouldn't need to draw a fancy line, just a straight one. And then let the cutting software handle the fancy part. You'd have to investigate SC for that.
