Batman Wallpaper

Postby ziro_talent » Mon Jun 24, 2013 2:25 am

Hey,

I'm no artist and not a graphic designer I am however blessed with a huge deficiency when it comes to creativity. Before I started using Inkscape the only vaguely arty thing I did was using the decal editor on Forza Motorsport 2. I'm really, really amazed by how little I know about Inkscape and every now and then I see someone's work - like the Electric Buddha Head - and it creates great shame within me about how basic and simplistic my use of Inkscape is.

That said, I love Inkscape for more then just the price and hopefully one day I'll be able to understand and use more of it then just the Pen tool and the Gradient editor.

While playing Batman: Arkham Asylum I noticed Batmans wallpaper in the Batcave and wanted a copy.

Fortunately I couldn't find one so a made my own version in Inkscape.

I would love it to be animated like the one in the game but I don't have a clue how to animate images, somehow I can't even use .gif generators online. It's the first thing I've made that's even remotely presentable but I'm sure it could be improved.

I'm not really all that keen on forums, but I love Inkscape and would love to improve my ability with it and so the embarrassment of showing off my work is a an acceptable burden to carry, any comments are welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look and for letting me know about the dead link. I'm really sorry about that, I must have posted it in the wrong place cause it seems to have been deleted and it definitely worked when I first posted.

I've uploaded it again and here's the link.

Thanks for any comments on how I can improve and hopefully if you like the original you'll like mine :D

Hey thank you Inkspots, I'm not sure how much creativity went into it as it's a replica (I recently looked at Dillerkinds work and my brain exploded, thankfully I'm good friends with Steve Martin).

I found some threads discussing animating:

&

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1292

I'd love to animate the waveform in the middle and some other parts but so far all I've been able to do is overlap two objects and get them to move across the screen together and it was in a browser using SMIL, I haven't got a clue if it's possible to make an animated SVG that displays outside of a browser. So obviously I'm miles away from animating anything.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I've been depressed, drunk and playing games  but thank you for taking the time to reply.

Is there any chance I can get some help/feedback on reflections and lighting effects?

I made this for a friend

Since then I've notice that sometimes light reflecting off an object can either fade in or start abruptly, how on Earth do you guys decide what type of reflection to apply to something that comes entirely from your imagination? Sorry if that's a stupid question I've got very little experience of this sort of thing.
