Hi,

This might be a bug, or perhaps I am using the software wrongly. But I have clipped a bitmap image to make it smaller. However, if I click where the image used to be, it is still selectable. I am using 0.47. Is this a bug or by design?

p.s. I am trying to convert to inkscape from Adobe fireworks and am feeling the pain of not having a select area function with cut, paste and crop. Do these function exist as these are basically my stock functions?

It's a bug… see bug #365458 in Inkscape: “clip object selection glitch”

Move your clipped object to another layer and the problem will disappear.

thanks for the reply. Yep, this is a good work around. I presume that this is a bug then and will try and file it.

See my earlier comment: it is a known bug, already filed.

Yes and this is even in the bug report that I discovered the workaround !I filled myself a duplicate of bug #365458 last week.
