Hi, guys - I am totally new to Inkscape and find myself quite lost atm.
I am trying to create a printable decal sheet for model making.
Essentially, what I need to create is a sheet of several white diamonds and possibly some other shapes, on a transparant background, which I can then print onto decal paper.
I have found a diamond shape that would suit my purposes, but I cannot seem to work out how to change the colour of this shape once I open it in Inkscape.
I am assuming this is because it is a jpeg, and not a proper vector file. (I have tried the colour fill option but I can't get it to work)
Can someone recomend a site where I can find basic vector shapes such as diamonds etc?
Or is there a way I can open jpeg or png files in Inkscape and then change the colour of the image in question (like a colour fill of black to white?)

Re: New to Inkscape.. Making decals
I'd explore the built-in tutorials found in the Inkscape Help menu. Shapes (like diamonds), color, and text are all easily covered in there.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
