Inkscape and PDF

Postby druban » Thu Sep 16, 2010 9:16 am

with the current version of Inkscape 0.48 I find that I can no longer open PDF written by Inkscape in Inksape although they open correctly in acrobat. PDF from other sources open correctly in Inkscape. Any tips? I have gs installed...

Hi

OS Windows Vista. Inkscape 0.48

Saved a simple rendering in PDF then used "Open with" option and had no problems. Also used "Open an existing document " option with no problems.

Try re-installing Inkscape

this must be a vista thing - I just see open and open recent in my Inkscape file menu (XP)
Now it looks as if it's only when i have transparency in the file when making a pdf. Remove the transparency and it seems pretty solid. curious.

Not relevant for opening/importing PDF files: Inkscape reads them natively.
Ghostscript is required for PS/EPS files and used to convert them on-the-fly to PDF (with Ghostscripts' ps2pdf tool).

Could you attach a sample SVG file (as well as make the PDF file available, somehow ;) ) for testing on other platforms?
