So, it's no secret that Inkscape's performance suffers quite a bit compared to other vector programs. That being said, Inkscape is still my favorite to use, despite all of the bugs/performance issues.
My main question is, what piece of hardware would ( If at all possible ) speed it up? My ram capacity is not a problem but was getting the impression that it is CPU intensive and am planning on getting a 6700k soon ( Not for the sole purpose of Inkscape ). Would this increase from my 2500k to the 6700k show a great improvement? Perhaps someone else has made a similar move and could shed some light. I just don't want to get me hopes up and have nothing change. I've used other sluggish programs before they integrated GPU rendering and a CPU usually provided a nice boost. But over the years I haven't really noticed a difference.
Thanks.

Re: Regarding Inkscape and Hardware
I think RAM is the main thing with Inkscape. If you use a lot of filters in your Inkscape work, a faster process might help. Maybe imported rasters fits in there too? And of course, you already know how to set inkscape to use multiple cores/thread? I got a noticable boost when I did that!
It's not about hardware, but I've heard that Inkscape runs much faster on a Linux system, than it does on Windows. I'll find out from personal experience pretty soon though, as I'm starting a switch to Linux in the next few months (from Windows).
I've never used any other vector program besides Inkscape, so I can't really compare performance. I'm guessing you won't see much of a change by getting a faster processor. But I'm not a hardware expert!

Re: Regarding Inkscape and Hardware
In my experience Inkscape is super fast, but I am on Linux, maybe it has something to do with it, and my CPU is 3.5GHz.
I have Adobe Fireworks on a mac but it's super slow compared to Inkscape on Linux!
I expect increasing the CPU power will improve your experience significantly, not the core count so much (this is good for compiling nightly versions though), just the higher frequency (even though it's not as easy as that to split and compare cores and frequency).
