Hello -
I am new to Inkscape. I have been given a .pdf file of a logo which was created in Adobe Illustrator.
I don't have the .ai file.
I would like to modify the font in the .pdf file to be thicker, and leave the other drawings alone - can this be done using Inkscape?
If so, what are the steps?
Thanks in advance

Re: Help changing a font in a .pdf file
Import the pdf file into Inkscape, the objects will probably be grouped so ungroup everything, maybe even several times.
You can delete the "text" and type new one with a different font if that's what you're after, but you can also try editing the object that is already there. Select that object and go to Path > Dynamic Offset, and when using Node edit tool
you can drag the offset mark that appears somewhere on the edge of the path outwards to make it thicker. This method rounds corners so it might not be what you want.
If you don't have the thicker font and need sharp corners you can edit the nodes in every letter to make it look thicker. Select nodes in one side of the letter and move them to the side using arrow keys (or Alt + arrow keys for more precise movement) etc...
Save the file in both Inkscape svg and pdf, just in case you need to work on it again.

Re: Help changing a font in a .pdf file
Hello - I'm back again.
I used the nodes - that was fun - but when I went to save it as a .pdf file, the only option was pdf via Cairo.
So, I picked that. Text Message box appeared "Restrict to PDF version 1.4" (only option so I clicked OK) and convert texts to paths I left it unchecked the first time and checked the next time.
The result was disappointing. A red onion graphic that was already in the file and that I didn't touch ended up with this big square block over it,
and the S had splotches all over the bottom that are not visible at all on the .svg file.
Is there a better tool to save to .pdf and still maintain the vector qualities of the file?
