I create layered Inkscape .svg files that have to be sent to the print shop as Illustrator files.
I do not want or need any transparency in the objects but I find it sometimes appears anyway in either the Layers menu or the Fill and Stroke menu when I am working in Inkscape (whether due to a bug or catching the slider when in the menus I do not know). Even selecting all the objects on a layer, moving the Transparency sliders to the left to reset the value and then all the way to the right back to 100% does not work all the time.
If I miss any Transparency the whole file refuses to open in Illustrator so is there a way I can either disable Transparency in Inkscape permanently or globally remove it before I open the file in Illustrator?
Your thoughts appreciated.

Hi puddlejumper,
no, there is no such option, but I agree it could be useful to be able to 'flatten transparencies' (feature request in the Inkscape bug tracker: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/951816).
Maybe it would be worth to update to Inkscape 0.91, though.
0.48.1 is from 4 March 2011, while 0.91 is from February 2015.
Many bugs and performance issues have been fixed.
Note that the Inkscape website is currently only available intermittently, so you may need to try reaching the download page at https://inkscape.org/download/ for a few times before it will work.

Re: Help dealing with unwanted transparency please.
Here's an article/tutorial I wrote, to help people discover where transparency is coming from. http://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/inde ... article=18 It's not written exactly from the perspective you described, but might help. Especially follow the link in it, to another tutorial for customizing tool styles. Many Inskcape tools draw transparency by default, and changing that might help you.
I think, for your particular problem you just have to learn to remember when you've used transparency, and reverse it, before moving on. I don't know. Unless you're editing files that you didn't yourself create. Then I can see where some kind of global button might be helpful.
Or maybe there would be a way to configure the Dropper tool, to ID transparency?? Although I guess you're still stuck with looking at every single object....

Thank you Moini and Brynn for your suggestions - I will be looking to upgrade to the latest version as soon as work permits (don't want to break anything when I still have deadlines to meet) and will also check out the various default tool settings mentioned.
