Blur or Dropshadow to arrow collapses the arrow to a line

Postby Eric Smoll » Tue May 29, 2018 5:37 am

Hello Inkscape Users,

OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Inkscape Version: 0.92

When I increase blur above zero in the fill and stroke menu or when I try to add a drop
shadow to an arrow, the arrow collapses to some sort of line with zero thickness. The arrow returns when the blur is reset to 0. What is going on?

Best,
Eric

If your arrow consists of a strictly horizontal or vertical line, then this is just how filters work in SVG (it's going to look the same in any other SVG displaying software).

To workaround this, you can either:
- rotate the line a little
- curve it a little
- do Path > Stroke to Path (this will convert the plain stroke into a filled path)
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Thanks for the reply and the explanation.. I found the "Path -> Stroke" command useful in resolving the problem.

Best,
Eric
