Hi,
I am new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am not remotely familiar with working with inkscape, but it is something I would like to learn more about. I am a web developer based in UK, specialising in PHP. I am also an administrator on the Ubuntu Forums and quite involved with the opensource community.
Glad to be here

Hello Fox,
Welcome here. Maybe you can make a contest out of the Ubuntu Awards request. People often like doing that kind of stuff. I must say that since Ubuntu went for Gnome 3 and Unity I ditched it for BackTrack. Couldn't appreciate the Big Amazon Sell-out either b.t.w. (no-one touches my privates without my consent!). But I still use the repositories of Ubuntu for many things (such as Inkscape). If I have some time left, I may give it a go.
P.S.
How many Awards would you require? What fields are there? Some more info on the topic might be handy to get some inspiration for the design task.

Re: Hello
Hi Jelle,
Unity has got better, but it isn't perfect. I pretty much stopped using Ubuntu and went back to Debian when it first came out. I installed Ubuntu 12.10 mainly to check on progress. Generally it has got better but still not quite right. I agree on the Amazon shopping lens. It should have been opt-in, not opt-out. Quite easy to fix if you know what you are doing, but perhaps that is not the point.
Here is a screenshot of the current trophy viewer (sort of like a trophy cabinet). All the trophy icons are kind-of "samey". We'd like to add variety. In terms of number of designs, I am really not sure. Speaking with people on IRC it looks like we would like something like a template file, where we could make some simple edits ourselves (colours and maybe icon in middle of trophy). The group would love to discuss more with you, do you use IRC? If so we can be found in #ubuntu-accomplishments we also have a mailing list via launchpad
Thank you
