Trouble Making a Path

Postby Sissy96 » Mon Apr 08, 2013 6:16 am

I've read a lot of posts about making paths for lines. I have tried it again and again. I have fill off, stroke is at 1 but every time I click for 1st point and go to make the 2nd it always draws a line. And no I"m not holding the mouse button down :) I thought may be I had some how set something so it would do that. I even uninstalled and reinstalled without saving any previous preferences. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've searched for an answer and all I can find is....click first point and then click 2nd. Can't find out how to get rid of the line
Any help would be so much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The most useful way of drawing lines is just how you did. Position control points connected with straight lines, then use the node editor tool to create good curves.

I don't understand the problem. While it is possible to have a transparent path, or a path with zero width, there really are very, very few situations where someone would want that. Could you tell us more about your goal, and why you don't want a line drawn, when you're trying to "make a path".

It sounds like you might be expecting a certain behavior, perhaps that you're accustomed to in another program? I wrote a tutorial for people who can't figure out how to draw a line.....and I'll make a link for it below. But I'm just confused how you apparently want to draw a path, but without a line Image

Handles work the same as you would use them in mspaint. Good luck!

Thanks to the both of you. I'm new to this and watching video tutorials how how things work. The ones I've seen showed where you should make a point and then whatever other points you wanted....without a line being dragged when you clicked the2nd point. I just now found a video that showed how to get your curves and make more nodes and handles for the curving. I want to thank both of you for you fast replies and helping. :D
